2008
Monroe Litho became certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative
(SFI) as well as by the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP).
2007
Opened up our Distribution/Fulfillment & Kit
packing facility.
2006
We began to operate on 100% Wind Power.
2004
Monroe Litho was the seventh commercial printer in the United States
to be certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
2000
Monroe Litho reaffirms its commitment to environmental leadership and
corporate social responsibility.
1999
Chris Pape, the company’s president, purchased Monroe Litho. Now
being privately owned, Monroe Litho has put us back on the path to success.
Late 1980s
Monroe Litho becomes the new name, we grow to 125 employees, and we’re
running at top speed with two six-color presses. We also establish strong
accounts in Washington D.C. and New York City.
1980
The business changes ownership, the building is renovated, and we add
a four-color press to meet growing customer demand.
1963
We move to Delevan Street, and gear up for larger-scale printing with
additional presses and a small bindery. Our staff grows to 50.
1950s
We move to St. Paul Street, and purchase our first offset press—a
one-color, 26-inch press. Our 25 employees included pressmen, cameramen,
film strippers, and plate makers.
1945
Monroe Letter Service (a.k.a Monroe Litho and Letter Service) is founded on
Clinton Avenue in downtown Rochester by Bernard "Bernie" Michlin and Harry
Clar—printing
primarily letterhead, envelopes, and small print materials.
